Trash to Treasure Day

Trash to Treasure Day

Sunday August 12 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. The City of Cornwall is pleased to announce the first-ever Trash to Treasure Day on Sunday, August 12.

Residents throughout the city are invited to participate by placing gently used, unwanted household items to the curb after 7 a.m. on Sunday, August 12. Participants can help treasure hunters by placing signs next to their free items.

“Trash to Treasure Day is all about reducing the waste we send to the landfill,” said Danielle Watson, Waste Management Supervisor. “Often, we throw away items that would be useful to someone else.

“Someone’s trash is always someone else’s treasure!”

Watson outlined several guidelines for residents looking to participate:
– This is not a yard sale – if you have items to sell, please do not place them out during Trash to Treasure Day.
– No mattresses, hazardous waste, or food items can be set out for Trash to Treasure Day.
– If items remain at the end of the day, you must bring them back inside before 7 p.m., or the City will issue a ticket.

“This event is the first of its kind in Cornwall,” said Watson. “We hope to see lots of residents participating in this valuable program.”
